In May 2000, the UK government appointed Stewart Committee reported on the possible health hazards of mobile telephones. It recommended a policy of "prudent avoidance" and a "precautionary approach" to the use of mobile phones.
"The precautionary principle is a risk management policy applied in circumstances with a high degree of scientific uncertainty reflecting the need to take action for a potentially serious risk without awaiting the results of scientific research".
Swedish researcher, Professor Mild from Orebro University, revealed in march 2003 that anyone using a mobile phone for one hour or more per day has a 30% increased chance of developing a brain tumor.
An independent blind study by British researchers at the Coghill Research Laboratories has also reported that mobile phone usage can prevent the ability of white blood cells to fight disease.
